Gladiator II Synopsis:
Sixteen years after the deaths of Roman legends Marcus Aurelius (Richard Harris) and Maximus Decimus Meridius (Russel Crowe), Rome is under the rule of twin emperors, Geta (Joseph Quinn) and Caracalla (Fred Hechinger). Their leadership brings tyranny, suffering, and violence to the city. Lucius (Paul Mescal), the son of Maximus and Lucilla (Connie Neilson), was sent away for safety as a child and has grown up as a Numidian warrior, unaware of his mother. When his wife is killed by General Marcus Acacius (Pedro Pascal) during a Roman attack, Lucius’s fate becomes linked to his father’s. He is captured as a slave by Macrinus (Denzel Washington), a greedy gladiator trainer. Lucius soon realizes that becoming a gladiator is his path to avenge his wife’s death, and his journey is tied to his noble heritage as the rightful heir to Rome.
